Success in basketball, original short films and an open night were the most recent highlights

Boys Basketball News
The U19 senior boys faced Mullingar Community College in a crucial game between the two remaining unbeaten teams in the group. Mullingar started strongly with several three-pointers, but Templemichael responded well towards the end of the first quarter through impressive plays from Christian Ogungbe, Joy Amundula, and Washington Mahalanga. In the second quarter, Christian, supported by Giulio Marchion, dominated inside the paint, and strong team defence helped Templemichael secure a six-point lead at halftime. The third quarter saw Templemichael take full control, with a wide range of scorers including Tomass Sleckus, Aaron Oates, and Joy Amundula.

Defensively, Leo Kelly, Toha Beko, and Emmanuel Amagwula stood out. In the final quarter, the bench made a significant impact as Sebastian Pasternak and Next Okosiako contributed well.
The game ended with a convincing 60–40 win for Templemichael. The U19s now prepare for their final group match against Coláiste Naomh Cormac, aiming to top the group.
In the U16 match, Templemichael proved too strong for Mullingar. Key players included Sebastian Pasternak, Cristiano Ogungbe, Samuel Salami, and Daniil Plotnikov.
The U16 boys finished the group stage unbeaten and now look forward to a semi-final after mid-term. Special thanks to the coaches, student helpers, and supporters who inspired both teams.
LCA1 Art Trip
LCA1 Art students had an inspiring day out at the National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin guided by the Art Teachers Ms Metlova, Ms McHugh and Ms Nolan. The students had a great day out and explored the incredible sculpture exhibition featuring works in a variety of mediums – from stone and metal to wood and glass – all set against the stunning natural backdrop of the gardens.

LCA 1 Arts Drama – Short Film Project!
As part of their Arts & Drama Task, our LCA 1 students worked in groups to plan, script, film, and edit their own short movies. Last Wednesday, 15th October, they proudly premiered their finished films in the library with Ms. McCarthy to an invited audience. Well done to all the LCA1 Arts & Drama students on their Movie Premier last week. It was a fantastic showcase of creativity, teamwork, and storytelling — well done to everyone involved!
Open Night
A big thank you to all the 6th Class pupils, their parents and guardians who visited the school on Thursday, October 16 for our Open Night.
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome so many families from our local primary schools to Templemichael College for the Open Night. Visitors had the chance to tour the school, sample subjects, talk to students and teachers, and gain a real sense of the many opportunities available both inside and outside the classroom.
The evening also included the Principal’s Address, which offered an overview of life and learning at Templemichael College A special thank you to all our teachers, SNAs, and students who helped represent the school on the night.
A particular mention goes to 1st Year student, Lukas Kelly, who shared his experience of settling into life at Templemichael College and spoke on behalf of the student voice.

Girls basketball News
Well done to our U19 basketball team on their fantastic win against Ardscoil Phadraig on Monday. A special mention to Sara, Lois, Sofia, and Franziska for their excellent performances. Thank you to their coaches Ms Keenehan and Mr Carey for their support with training and matches.
Rising Star of Templemichael
Our Wellbeing Team and recently launched the Rising Star of Templemichael Award which aims to shine a light on the unsung heroes of our school.

Each term, one student from every year group will be honoured with the Award for showing kindness, reliability, a passion for learning and a determination to succeed.
This is the first time the award has been presented with both students and teachers voting for those who truly stood out. Each winner receives a €20 One4All voucher, a Rising Star badge, and well-deserved recognition from the entire school community. Well done to our very first Rising Stars Award Recipients: First Year: Lukas Kelly, Second Year: Fadellah Busari, Third Year: Oscar Bakowski, Fifth Year: Veronica Johnson Aggrey and Sixth Year: Ruairi McArdle.
