Longford Variety Group held their launch night on Friday, September 26 from 9pm in PV'S Hotel and Restaurant. A relaxed evening with food and drinks, there is plenty of excitement for this year's show.

One of the backstage crew, Michele Ciba, who was in control of all the mics and sound last year and this year again, has for the first time taken her hands to writing a play. Michele's Play ''She Said She Said'' will be on in the Backstage Theatre on October 18 and 19, as part of various one act plays. Tickets can be bought via the Backstage website.

The event will commence at 8pm, Backstage Theatre, with tickets costing between €15/12, according to the website.
Other plays included on the night are: “Baby Steps” by Moira Mahon and Sarah Fahy, directed by Christine O’Brien; and “Dada” by Frank Houlihan and directed by Maureen Dunne.

Charlie Murray, chairperson of the Longford Variety Show, said:

“It was a fantastic night. God, we were blown away by the crowd. All the cast. This year, we have such a vibrant cast. Peelo School of Dance; Chloe Brady is our choreographer. We have a large contingent from there. The regulars, from down the years. We were blessed and delighted by the turnout.”

As always, next month's show will be putting money towards local Longford charities, such as St Christopher's.

“We would like to thank Barry and Lisa of PV's for their hospitality for our launch night. We want to thank our sponsors.

Without them, there isn’t a show without the people financing it every year. We are truly blessed with the people of Longford for their support. Every sponsorship we appreciate, big or small. 30-plus years, we’re getting bigger and better and that’s down to the people of Longford.
