Antisocial behaviour at the new sensory friendly playground at the former greyhound track in Longford town ‘is a massive problem’ according to Longford Municipal District Leas Cathaoirleach Kevin Hussey.
Commenting on the progress made at the site, Cllr Hussey said, “Unbelievable work has been done over the past couple of months. But I’ve a lot of concerns on how the sensory friendly playground will be managed and when it will open. The fence is broken. People are climbing over it. Antisocial behaviour is a massive problem.”

Cllr Martin Monaghan agreed. “Damage to property is unacceptable.”
Both Cllr Monaghan and Cllr Peggy Nolan urged that the opening of the playground should take place as soon as possible with it being summertime.
It was then revealed that the park would be opening to prevent further criminal damage. Cllr Hussey praised the response over its imminent opening.
