Rhythm & Sticks lead the charge for Longford's July First Friday

Though we may be technically past the mid point of summer, there are still plenty of seasonal entertainment offerings in store in the long evenings ahead.
Longford's First Friday events will look to capitalise on the summer vibe as the July programme of music and amusement hopes to continue the highly entertaining precedent.

Friday, July 5 is the next date in your diary for the latest First Fridays programme of late night music, comedy, dance and public art, on the First Friday of every month.
This programme tasked with bringing diverse entertainment to Longford Town runs from April to September and is facilitated by Backstage Theatre.
The next outing sees Rhythm & Sticks playing PVs Red Room. Rhythm and Sticks are a dynamic five-piece band hailing from across Cavan and Longford.

Led by Emmet Flood on vocals and acoustic guitar, Liam Doherty on banjo, Tiernan Flood on Vocals and bass guitar, Dwight Kelly on electric guitar, and Cal Flood on Drums, Rhythm and Sticks promises an electrifying musical experience that transcends boundaries. With their eclectic repertoire spanning high-energy heartfelt melodies like 'Travelling Shoulder' and 'Grace', and other beloved Irish songs, Rhythm and Sticks invites audiences on a journey through the heart and soul of Ireland. Each performance is a celebration of Irish music and current hits with a folk twist.

The show has a 9.30pm start, with tickets costing €10 available from www.backstage.ie.
Elsewhere on the night, there will be a number of free events. Lyons Bar plays host to the launch of Ukulele Ceili from 9.30pm, while the singer songwriter Elena Duff will perform at The Gaelic Corner (formerly Hughie Doyles) also from 9.30pm, while Edward J. Valentines Bar is the venue for the music from Mick and Conor Lane also from 9.30pm.

All acts are presented by First Fridays Longford, brought to you by Backstage Theatre and Longford County Council, funded by The Arts Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Night Time Economy programme.
