John Mahon owner of The Pig N' Whistle and Maggie Timoney the 2024 Grand Marshal of the New York City St Patrick’s Day Parade
New York's Patrick's Day celebration is the world’s oldest and largest civic parade and this year there was a strong Longford connection to the event.
The John Mahon owned Pig ‘n’ Whistle chain is synonymous with hospitality in New York and on St Patrick's Day they hosted the Grand Marshal's breakfast to start off the day of celebration on Saturday, March 16, 2024.

A native of Ballina, Mayo Maggie Timoney was selected as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 New York City St Patrick’s Day parade.
Maggie is the first female President and CEO of Heineken USA, which is based in White Plains, New York. The Ballina woman has broken stereotypes in the traditionally male-dominated beer industry, and is the first woman to serve as chief executive of a major beer company in the United States.
She led the St Patrick’s Day marchers up Fifth Avenue for the New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.
