Leinster Youths boxing champion Andrew Nugent
Well done to Andrew Nugent who won the B1 31kg Leinster Boxing Championships in Wexford at the weekend. Andrew Nugent from Longford Town, a 5th class pupil in Scoil Eimear Longford, is affiliated to the Olympic Boxing Club in Mullingar.
Andrew had a tough draw over two weekends. In the quarter-final he came up against Scott Murphy from Royston BC, Kildare and he won 5-0. In the semi-final Andrew fought Danny O’Reilly from Urlingford BC Kilkenny and he won 5-0.
In the final Andrew came up against Tom Connors, Common Quay BC Wexford, and he again showed his class as he did throughout the tournament in winning 5-0 again to be crowned 2024 B1 Leinster Champion in his category.
Best of luck to Andrew who now moves forward to the All-Ireland Boxing Championships in two weeks time to represent his club and Leinster at his age and weight class.
