In producing a very fine performance, Longford swimming star Darragh Greene was placed 20th overall in the heats of the 100m Breaststroke at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar this Sunday morning in just missing out on a place in the semi-finals.
Tokyo Olympian Greene is aiming for a second Olympic Games in the individual events with the Irish record holder in the 100m Breaststroke in 59.76 chasing a time of 59.49 to assure qualification for the Paris Olympics.
Darragh is still on course for the 2024 Olympics as a member of Ireland’s 4x100 medley relay team.
The exceptional Irish quartet are currently 11th in the World medley relay rankings with the top 16 countries competing in Paris.
The relay team will be going all out to consolidate their probable qualification for the Olympics with a major performance in the event at the conclusion of the 2024 World Swimming Championships in Doha on Sunday February 18th.
