Longford gymnasts pictured at the Gymnastics Ireland Gymstart competition in University Limerick campus last weekend
Longford gymnasts achieved great success last weekend in the Gymnastics Ireland Gymstart competition in University Limerick campus.
The Longford Gymnastics club opened in March 2020, only to be closed on and off for 18 months due to lock downs. Since then the gymnasts have gone from strength to strength and embarked on our first competition with the governing body Gymnastics Ireland last weekend.
The club brought 14 gymnasts to compete and achieved 2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze and 3 highly commended certificates in various categories. The two gold medals were in the highest possible level category in the Gymstart programme.
It is an amazing achievement for all the local gymnasts when you consider how young the club is. They did the club, their parents and themselves proud.
A huge congratulations to our gymnasts in the Over 13 level 8 category..... Gold medal winner Chloe Mulcahy. Also 5th place Ali Murphy and 6th place Lauryn McKeon.
Even more exciting news from Limerick. Huge congratulations to the Longford gymnasts in the Under 11 Level 9 category. Gold Ruby Hogan Airlie, Silver Elena Hanlon and 5th Emily Groarke.
Huge congratulations to Cora O'Hanlon who won bronze in the Under 10 level 5 Gymstart competition in Session 2 in UL.
2 more medals picked up at Competition 3. Evelyn Hallahan Silver Medal Under 13 Level 8 category and Julie Taitt Under 12 Level 8.
Last but not least at Under 8s Level 5 competition. Isla Lily did not place but she was fabulous at not even 7 years old yet.
