Longford’s John Nevin, Connacht Youths Boxing champion

13-year-old John Nevin, a promising young boxer from Longford, was crowned a Connacht Youths champion when he emerged victorious in the Boys 3 48kg division in the recent finals hosted by Castlerea Boxing Club.

It was yet another provincial success for the St Mel’s College student, who won Connacht and Leinster titles at his weight last year, and John is now firmly focused on the 2023 All-Ireland Youths Championships in the National Stadium, Dublin in a few weeks time.

John, a son of former Longford Slashers football star Martin ‘Butch’ Nevin, is affiliated to the Olympic Boxing Club in Galway and his shorts were kindly sponsored by Seanie Stakelum Pharmacy.
