Longford’s Rocco Nugent, Leinster Youths Boxing champion

Well done to Longford Boxer Rocco Nugent who won the Youth1 52kg title at the Leinster Boxing Championships in Portlaoise last weekend.

15-year-old  Rocco, a  student in St Mel’s College, is affiliated to the Olympic Boxing Club in Mullingar and came up against a very good opponent in Sam Molloy from the St Ibars BC in Wexford.

 Rocco produced a great performance of skill and determination to win all 3 rounds and won the final 5-0 to be crowned the Leinster champion.

Nugent will now move forward to the All-Ireland National Championships in the National Stadium, Dublin in three weeks time to represent Leinster. Best of luck Rocco.
