Former Longford footballer Mark Reynolds will be in action for Dublin basketball club Eanna against University of Galway Maree in the National Senior Cup Final on Saturday January 21.
The Pat Duffy Cup Final at the National Basketball Arena tips-off at 8pm and the big match is being broadcast live on TG4.
38-year-old Mark told his team he planned to call time on his basketball career after last season but a plea from club coach Darren McGovern made the Longford native change his mind.
Standing tall at 6ft 6in, Reynolds’ basketball career continues almost 16 years since a British Universities title win with a combined Scottish Colleges side led him to a professional contract in Germany.
Attached to Ballyboden St Enda’s GAA, the Eanna basketballers beat local side Ballincollig in the semi-finals at Neptune Stadium in Cork on Saturday last with Reynolds playing a starring role in shooting a total of 18 points in the 77-71 victory.
Mark Reynolds was a member of the Longford senior football squad along with his brother Philip during the Glenn Ryan regime. The boys mother Noreen (nee Glennon) hails from Dublin Road in Longford town.
