The Royal Canal Greenway, which runs through the town, was singled out as an option for walking and cycling, with its largely flat, off-road route.
The Corlea Bog Amenity Walk was also highlighted, with its looped paths around the Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre providing another option for those looking to enjoy the outdoors.
WorldAtlas also pointed to the range of programmes available to older residents in Longford, specifically highlighting Age Friendly Longford, a programme led by Longford County Council which works with the local community to provide social activities for older people.
