Advent Giving Tree
Beginning last Sunday and continuing for the next three Sundays of Advent, Clonbroney Parish Pastoral Care and Outreach Group, in association with Granard Branch of Saint Vincent de Paul are asking people to donate food (non- perishable, wholefood) and fuel to be left at the GIVING TREE in Holy Trinity and Saint James’ Churches at the Vigil and 11am Masses using the tags at the tree to describe what they have presented, and tie the tag on a ‘branch’ of the tree. Rather than leaving a gift of fuel at the tree, please let one of the committee know where it was purchased and arrangements will be made to collect it. That member will describe the fuel gift on a tag for the tree. With the addition of lights on Christmas Eve our Advent Giving Trees, adorned with your food and fuel tags will become our Christmas trees reminding us that Jesus Christ our Lord is the Light of the World and the reason for the season! Members of the Parish Pastoral Care Outreach Group are: Kevin Hall, Catherine Hennessey, Marie McGivney, Mairéad Rawle, Carmel Reynolds. Please give as generously as you can, as the need is great. Thank you.
Message from Santa
Dear boys and girls, your response to my appeal to you for help was so wonderful last year that I am asking you for your help again this year, please.
Like many people in the world today, I do not have enough money to pay all the toy makers needed to make toys for every child, so I count on your help. Here is what I am asking you to do: look through your toys and pick out one that is in perfect condition to give me so that with a toy from each of you, and from more boys and girls too, added to what my elves make, I will have enough toys for every child in the world on Christmas Eve. Take your toy to Mass on the third Sunday of Advent (December 13) – either the 7pm Vigil Mass in Saint James’ Church, or the 11 am Mass in Holy Trinity. Then just before the final blessing of the Mass Father Brian will invite you and all the other children to carry your toys to the stable that awaits baby Jesus at Christmas. You will leave your toys in the stable, and later, when everyone is gone home, my elves will come and collect your toys and take them to me in Lapland. On your way back from the stable to your seats it would be lovely if you would sing a special song for Jesus and Father Brian and all the people in church could join in. Thank you for your toys, and may God bless you all and your families. Santa.
National Blood Transfusion Mobile Unit will be in The Longford Arms Hotel from December 8 to 10 inclusive, from 4:30 – 8:00pm. Please give your blood and help the Blood Transfusion Service to help others.
