Help needed
Conor Ward, a fiddle player from Annaduff, Co. Leitrim is currently undertaking a research thesis on “The fiddle tradition of Thomas ‘Blind’ Kiernan in north Longford from c.1800-1975’. Kiernan (1807-87) was a fiddle master from Cartron, Drumlish and he taught music all over north Longford. Central to this study are a number of fiddle music manuscripts that have been discovered in the region written by Kiernan and successive generations of his students. Most recently a significant manuscript collection was discovered relating to fiddle players from Gaigue, Ballinamuck which were written around the period 1850-1910. Based on this discovery Conor is appealing to anyone in the parish that may also have music manuscripts relating to their ancestors to contact him. In addition if anyone has any information on fiddle players or locations of where music was played in the region he would be grateful to hear from you. His contacts details are 0877795879 andconorward9158@gmail.com”
