EASTER SUNDAY HONDA RUN: Club 50, the local Honda 50, 70 and 90 enthusiasts club, are holding their Easter Run on Sunday next, March 31st, Easter Sunday. The run each year attracts supporters from all over Ireland eager to support a good cause and enjoy the camaraderie of like minded individuals. The ubiquitous Honda 50 and its bigger brothers the 70 and 90 were the mainstay of transport in Ireland for a great many years before the advent of widespread car ownership. The Charity Run this year is in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland, MDI, which has evolved greatly over the years since its foundation in the 1970’s to assist the families of those affected by muscular dystrophy. Registration is at 11am in the Ringtown GAA Complex, Whitehall, Castlepollard, and the run itself starts at 12.00 noon, followed by refreshments and prizegiving ceremonies.
THE LATE MRS. A. POWER (NEE CAHILL): The North Westmeath community were shocked and saddened to learn of the death on Wednesday, March 6th, peacefully, following an illness bravely borne, of Mrs. Ann Power (nee Cahill), New York, U.S.A., and formerly of Johnstown, Collinstown, Co. Westmeath, surrounded by her immediate family, mother Molly, sister Eilish (Browne), brothers Eugene, Gearoid, Noel, Michael and her friends and colleagues from the Greek American Institute. The remains returned to the family home on Monday, March 11th, and reposed from 3pm, Tuesday, March 12th, until removal at 7.30pm, arriving at St. Mary’s Church, Collinstown, at 8.00pm. The funeral took place following Requiem Mass on Wednesday, March 13th, at 11am, and interment took place immediately afterwards to the local cemetery. The attendance at the removal, Mass and funeral was very large and widely representative of the esteem in which the deceased was held. Eilish was a member of an old and respected local family, and will be sadly missed not alone by her immediate family, but by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her mother Molly, sister Eilish, brother Eugene, Gearoid, Noel and Michael, aunts, uncles, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended.

EASTER DANCE: Ringtown GAA Club are holding an Easter Dance in the Clubhouse, Whitehall, Castlepollard, on Easter Sunday, March 31st. Music on the night will be provided by the Pick-Ups, and a great night of music and craic is on the cards.
