Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule Defibrillator Group: Over the coming weeks a number of people from the area due to do their 90 day and two year re-certification. T A class for new people wishing to learn the skills of CPR and how to use a defibrillator will take place in St Sinneachs hall on the 26th February 2013. A meeting for Cardiac First Responders will take place in the parish hall on the 29th January. All responders will be notified nearer the date.

St Christopher’s Presentation: A presentation of €1350 was made to Brendan Quigley St Christopher’s by the Carrickedmond GAA club at the club dinner dance which took place in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Saturday night last. All money was raised at the club annual St Stephens day football charity football game. We done to all concerned.
Used Stamps: Please collect used stamps and place them in the box located and marked “Used Stamps” at the rear of the Carrickedmond church and Abbeyshrule church. These stamps will be collected and used by missionary groups who make a small amount of money by selling them to stamp dealers.
Ladies AGM: The Carrickedmond ladies GAA AGM will take place in the complex Carrickedmond on this Friday night the 18th January commencing at 8pm. All players and anyone who would be interested in getting involved in the ladies club are welcome to attend.
Congratulations: To Margaret Murray, Abbeyderg on her recent lotto win. Margaret was represented on the TV game show by her grandson Colm who went on to spin the big wheel on behalf of his grandmother. It was nice to see Margaret on the TV surrounded by her family and all looking very happy at the end of the show. We wish you many good luck and happy spending Margaret.
Used Clothes Collection: A used clothes collection will take place from the car park outside St Sinneachs NS on Friday next the 18th January at 9.30 am. Please leave bags of used clothes, shoes etc at the school wall. This is a valuable means of raising funds for the school.

Engagement: Congratulations to Liam Kavanagh son of Willie and Kathleen Kavanagh Toome who announced his engagement during the Christmas season to Danielle Leahy daughter of Eamonn and Greta Leahy Abbeyshrule. We wish Liam and Danielle good luck with all future plans.
Dinner Dance Success: Carrickedmond GAA club held a very successful dinner dance in the Rustic-Inn Abbeyshrule on Saturday night last. A large crowd attended with all enjoying a lovely meal followed by a great lively night of song and dance. Special guests in attendance on the night included County Longford GAA Board Chairman Brendan Gilmore, Club President Fr Peter Tiernan and Longford Ladies County Board Treasurer Emily Cullen. Intermediate Player of the Year John Gearty, Junior player of the year: Patrick Farrell, Clubperson of the year: Maraide Mc Donnell. Hall of Fame Recipient: Jody Mc Guire. The ladies GAA club also made a number of presentations on the night following their very successful year on the football front. They included, Player of the year: Michelle Noonan and most improved player of the year: Catherine Mc Donnell. Other presentations which took place included a special presentation to Pat Cahill in recognition for his work and achievements as Chairman of Longford County Board over the past five years. A special presentation to club secretary Maraide Mc Donnell for all the work and commitment she gave to the club over the past twelve months. To the 2012 Intermediate management team James Brady Dermot Mc Cormack and Patrick Egan and to the First Aiders Martin Mulvey and Seamus Mc Guire in appreciation for their work with the club over the past twelve months. The ladies club also made medal presentations to their successful minor and senior teams and a special presentation to long term club member Maureen Teague for all her help and dedication to ladies football in Carrickedmond over the years. Well done to all who received presentations.
Stations: Households who are due to hold spring stations for their area are asked to contact Fr Tiernan before next weekend to make arrangements. Station for the Ratharney area will take place in the home of Willie and Mary Connell on Thursday night the 24th January at 8pm.
