Church of Ireland Ardagh Group of Parishes. During Holy week and Easter the following services will be held to which all are welcome to attend. 18th April in Kenagh Church special service for Good Friday at 11.30am. 19th April Easter evening Holy Communion Ballymahon 7pm. Holy Communion Kenagh 9pm. 20th April Easter Day Holy Communion Ardagh 10am. Holy Communion Tashinny 11.30am. Easter Holy Communion to those who are unable to get to church because of age or illness will be administered during Holy Week.
St Dominic’s NS Parents Association Easter Fair. Reminder that our Easter Fair will take place on Sunday, 27 April in St Dominic’s Community Centre. The Fair will take place between 2pm and 4pm and promises to be a fun-filled afternoon for all the family. There will be face-painting, raffle, obstacle course, games, an egg hunt (weather permitting), stalls and much, much more. Anybody interested in hosting a stall at the Fair should contact one of the individuals below. The committee is also gratefully accepting all donations of bric-a-brac, books, toys (no soft toys please), pledges of baked goods and donations of raffle prizes. All monies raised are used to fund events etc. for the children attending the school. The numbers drawn in Kenagh GAA Lotto for April 6th were 3, 7, 19, 26. There was one match three winner Pat Dunne, Ballymahon wins 80 euro.
The Longford branch of MS wish to thank all who contribute to their fundraising collection which was taken up on Saturday night and Sunday morning at St Dominic’s Church Kenagh.
Don’t forget the High Nellie Bike Rally which will be held from Kenagh Community Centre on Sunday morning, May 4th commencing at 12 noon. Participants are asked to be at the starting point at eleven thirty. All kinds and classes of bikes are very welcome, big and small young and old. Refreshments will be served, a small donation will be collected to defray expenses.
Our annual sports day will take place on Saturday, 26th April at 5pm in Kenagh GAA pitch. Registration commences at 4.30pm. Entry fee is 1 euro. Medals will be presented after each race. The day will start off with a preschool race, an U6 race and then a full schedule of track and field events. Arts finals – Kenagh area art finals will take place on Wednesday, 30th April from 5.30 to 7pm in Kenagh Community Centre. Children must use their own pencils, crayons and markers. No paints allowed. Paper will be supplied. Children from, age 6 to under 16 years on 31st July 2014 are eligible to compete. Children U12, U14 and U16 must choose from one of the following titles for their entry: badminton, basketball, draughts, gaelic football, group singing, handball (one wall), hurdles, javelin, judo and swimming.
Anyone with scrap metal to contribute are asked to leave it in the designated place in Harrison’s yard before end of April. All types of old scrap metal such as cast iron, steel, copper, aluminum, brass and lead will be accepted. Proceeds from the sale of the scrap will go to the KDDA where it will be put to good use. Please keep the collection site tidy for everyone’s benefit, it will also help people to tidy up their environment. Large quantities will be collected.
Holy week ceremonies
Holy Thursday: Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 8pm. Good Friday: Passion ceremony at 3pm, stations of the cross at 7.30pm. Holy Saturday: Vigil at 9pm. Easter Sunday: Mass of the Lord’s Resurrection at 11am. Adoration Sunday 7pm to 9pm. Monday 7pm to 8pm.
We offer sincere sympathy to the Jones families in Creagh and Kenagh and all extended families. Also Stewart and Glendenning families on the death of Maud Abbot, Ballinalee, (nee Stewart) which occurred on Saturday, April 12th. This is the third bereavement in the Stewart family circle in the past two months.
There will be a meeting of Wetlands Heritage Ireland in Cooney’s Hotel, Ballymahon on this Thursday night, April 17th at 8pm. There are important items on the agenda for discussion. All members please attend.
Kenagh branch of Fine Gael will be holding their annual general meeting in Saint Dominic’s Community Centre on Tuesday night, April 22nd at 8pm. All members please attend. New members very welcome.
