Ballinamuck ICA In Association with Bord Bia, Present, Cookery Demonstration and Food Fair (presenter Máire Dufficy, Bord Bia) in the 98’ Memorial Hall, Ballinamuck on Thursday October 3rd at 8pm. Doors open 7.30pm. Admission €10. Raffle for various prizes, proceeds going to Aware.

Youth Club

Ballinamuck Youth Club returns Friday 20th September @8pm new members welcome .Children must be 10 years old to join .

St Vincent’s
Our season has come to an end with our teams reaching two semi finals. Thank you to all our players, parents and mentors for participating. We hope to see you all out in the new season and we will let you know when training resumes .

Fundraising draw
The New Cemetery Committee are organising a Fundraising Draw which will take place in O’ Reilly’s Bar on Saturday 26th October.  Prizes are 1. €1,000, 2. 32” TV, 3. €100 Voucher, 4. €100 Voucher, 5. €100 Voucher.  Tickets cost €10 and are on sale now, tickets will also be sold door to door throughout the parish between now and 26th October. For further information please contact any committee member.

New Arrival

Congratulations to Paul and Antoinette Corrigan, Drumlish Hill, on the recent birth of their baby daughter, Loren Mary at the General Hospital, Mullngar last week, a welcome grandchild for Jodie and Bridie and Pat and Rose.

Ladies Football

Congratulations and well done to the St. Helen’s team who are doing really well with 2 wins under their belts so far. Well done to the management and supporters too.

21st Birthday

Congratulations to Dylan Quinn, son of Paddy and Joanne, Cartron, who celebrated his 21st birthday with a mega party in Gallaghers at the weekend. Happy birthday Dylan and we join your family and friends in wishing you many more happy birthdays in the future.

Carol Galvin Fundraiser

A Fundraising Night will be held in the Village Inn, Drumlish on October 12th for Carol Galvin, daughter of Willie and Philomena Forde, Cloonaugh Lr, and natives of Kilmahon. Carol diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis eight years ago is confined to a wheelchair and was recently diagnosed with a chronic form of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease treatment is only available in Germany and will cost 40,000 euro. Carol lives in Athlone with her husband David and six year old daughter. Your help and support for this Fundraiser will be greatly appreciated.


The Parish of Drumlish/Ballinamuck has been allocated 4 places for the Episcopal Ordination of Fr. Francis Duffy in St. Mary’s Pro Cathedral Athlone on Sunday 6th October at 3.00pm If you would like to attend this special celebration please give your name to Fr. Patsy or Fr. Ber before September 22nd. All names in by that date will be put in a draw which will take place at the 11.00am Mass in Drumlish on September 22nd.

Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes start Thursday 19th September in The Village Inn Drumlish from 7.00 – 8.15pm. This is a 6 week course. Enrolment for the full course 15mns before class. Pre- booking is necessary to reserve your place, as spaces are limited. Contact Kathleen @ 087-2868254

Cathedral Open Day

Those who are interested will have an opportunity to see progress on te restoration project at an Open Day to be held on Sunday September 29th. The Cathedral will open to visitors from 1.30pm to 4,30pm

Tidy Towns

Congratulations and well done to everyone and especially the hard –working Committee of the Tidy Towns on the recent results of the Tidy Towns Competition. The marks were up this year by 6 more than last year and the report is very comprehensive fair and honest. There is still a lot of work to be done in the town and surrounds but well done on this remarkable achievement and thank you on behalf of all the citizens of Drumlish for all your endeavours on behalf of the town. Today is the start of next year and it behoves everyone living in and around the area to put their weight behind the committee, to help and co-operate any which way they can and support the efforts being made to develop and implement the recommendations of the adjudicator in furthering the enhancement of the area. Everyone must play their part. “From little acorns, great oaks grow” Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine”. So thank you to all the workers Fás and others for all their efforts in achieving the added 6 points this year.

Give Blood

He IBTS will visit St. Brigid’s Community Centre Loch Gowna on Monday 23rd September & Thursday 24th September from 5.00pm – 8.30pm. Please note Days and Clinic Times. Help Ensure Essential Blood Supplies are always available by giving blood regularly.


Rainbows is a support programme for children/teenagers who have been bereaved through death or separation. At Rainbows: The young people meet in small groups according to their age. Two caring trained adults facilitate each group in a warm welcoming atmeosphere. They are helped to express their feelings of loss through art, games and stories. They are listened to in confidence. The Programme begng n the Family Centre, Longford on Thursday 3rd October from6.00pm to 7.00pm. Booking before 26th September at 043-3346827.

Gospel Choir Workshop

Longford Voices United Community Gospel Choir are organising a FREE Gospel Choir Workshop facilitated by the Tullamore Gospel Choir on the 29th September from 3.00pm – 5.00pm in The Longford Arms Hotel. To book a place contact LCRL on 043-3345555 before Wednesday 25th September.

‘98Memorial Hall

The ‘98Memorial Hall committee thank the following people for their help in the restoration of our meeting room: Peter Mulligan, Carmel Gill and local Fás group. A special word of thanks to Peter and Margaret Dillon for their kind donation of the 1798 Commemoration art work. The room is now available for use for a small fee. Please contact Paddy if you wish to book the room.

The Bus Trip to Killarney on Monday 23rdSeptember will leave from outside the church in Drumlish at 9.45 am. Please ensure you are on time.

Manning: The death occurred recently of Winnifred Manning, (nee Hanafee) Clonellan, Drumlish at Laurel lodge Nursing Home, Longford. To her daughters, Marita (Hughes), Dublin, Colette (Slowey), Minard and Jacqueline (McConville) Canada, grandchildren, Shauna, Marina, Jimmy, Catherine, Evan, John, Eilish, Owen, and Garret, great grandchildren Ciara, Cian, PJ and Sally, brother-in-law Paddy Manning, sister-in-law Marie, sons-in-law John, Jimmy, and Jim. Nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends we extend our deepest and sincere sympathy.
