New baby

Congratulations to David and Annie Blessington, Coolcor on the birth of their third child, a girl recently. The new arrival to the Blessington family is to be named Evelyn and she is a welcome sister for Ben and Layla and granddaughter for Michael and Settie Blessington and great granddaughter for Frank Sullivan, Aughakine.


Deepest and heartfelt sympathy is extended to Marie and Thomas McCawley, and family, Lisratigan, on the death of Marie’s brother, Gerard McCrann in Mohill recently. We also offer our sympathy to Gerard’s nephew, Mattie McCrann and to the extended McCrann family. May he rest in peace.

Well done

Congratulations and well done to the Ballymore ladies team on their great win over Colmcille in the senior B final on Sunday September 8th last. We hope all the ladies enjoyed the celebrations.

Granard CCE

The John Dungan branch of CCE held their annual Trad for Trocaire session in Creegan’s on Saturday night last and the organizers wish to extend sincere thanks to all the musicians singers and dancers who provided great entertainment on the night. Thanks also to John Joe Pettit, Dunphy’s super value, McEvoy’s chemist and The Gift Shop who donated prizes for the raffle and also to Johnny and Molly Creegan and family for the use of their premises and for their hospitality. Well done to all.

Birthday party

Congratulations to Dori McAndrew, Ferriskil who celebrated a special birthday recently and was treated to a great surprise party in McElvaney’s on Saturday night last. A great night was had by all.

Coffee morning

On tomorrow morning Thursday 19th, a coffee morning will be held in the community centre in Granard from 10am until 1pm and again in McElvaney’s Coolarty from 7pm until 10pm. All proceeds going to Longford Hospice and your support will be greatly appreciated.

New baby

Congratulations to Francis and Joanne Walshe, Ballygilchriest, on the birth of their baby girl recently. We understand that the three boys are delighted with their baby sister as are her grandparents Frank and Anna Mai and Mel and Mrs Kiernan.


We offer sincere and deepest sympathy to Pat Sheirdan and family, Granard and to the extended Small family on the untimely death of Margaret which occurred following an illness on Thursday last. May she rest in peace.
