Junior Cert Results
We would like to congratulate all our fifth year students on their great Junior Cert results. We were delighted that their hard work paid off as they got some of the best results achieved in the school in recent years.
New Classrooms
We are delighted to say that construction of our four new classrooms is due to start within the next week or so. Builders have been appointed and contracts have been signed, so it is certainly an exciting time for the whole school community.
New Teacher
We would like to welcome Mr Lenihan, our new Mathematics teacher to the school. We hope that he will enjoy his time with us.
Sports
Paddy O Connor. Longford GAA coach, made a welcome return to the football field last week to work with our School Gaelic team. There was a great turnout for the lunchtime training session, so we are looking forward to putting our skills and tactics into action in our matches which will be starting shortly. We would also like to thank Mr Buckley, Mr Breslin and Mr Slowey for organising a new set of jerseys for us.
An Triail
Ms Doyle has organised for the fifth and sixth year higher level students to go to the theatre in Athlone to watch the dramatisation of “An Triail”. This will be of great benefit to us as it is on the Irish Leaving Cert course.
Higher Options
The Leaving Cert students accompanied by Ms Sheridan, Mr Flanagan and Mr Breslin are going to Dublin tomorrow for the Higher Options Exhibition. This provides the students with an opportunity to see what courses are available at the various colleges and universities.
Art Festival
We are looking forward to working with students from other secondary schools to produce a supplement for the Longford Leader to mark the week of the Aisling Childrens’ Arts Festival.
Supervised Study
Supervised after school study has recommenced. This gives students the opportunity to have a quiet environment in the school to complete homework and study.
FETAC
There are still a small number of places available on the Animal Care and Nursing Studies courses. Please contact the school immediately on 041 6686209 if you are interested.
