Efforts to rekindle trade and commercial support in the wake of last week’s budgetary announcements were set in motion last weekend as Edgeworthstown Traders Association held an official relaunch of its organisation.
Coinciding with a scheduled ‘Gathering’ meeting on ‘The Green’ business owners and local entrepreneurs turned out in force for the event.
Chairperson Hugh Quinn said the occasion was designed to highlight the vast array of business currently available to consumers.
“Edgeworthstown Traders Association have been active for some time but we wanted to revive and relaunch it,” said Mr Quinn.
The hardware specialist of local firm Quinn Supply Stores, revealed there are as many as 85 different establishments in the wider Edgeworthstown area, a number he believes underlines the town’s hidden shopping potential.
“What we want to do is to promote enterprise, liaise with the county council and attract more business to the town. If we can do that and showcase Edgeworthstown as a place to shop it will give everyone and the town a great lift,” he added.
