Shield Winners
Pride of place this week deservedly goes to the Drumlea Girls school team which brought home the first trophy of the year with a 5-3 to 1-6 win over Aughnasheelin in the Shield final on Wednesday of last week in Ballinamore The exchanges were even in the first half and it was only in the second moiety that the final outcome was assured by Drumlea. Congratulations to the panel and mentors. The team and subs were as follows: Stephanie Daly, Niamh Donegan, Ciara Lavin, Caoimhe Gaffney, Niamh McCabe, Emer McCabe and Shannon Edwards. Subs used: Michelle McCabe, Megan Sutherland, Shauna Lavin, Sinéad Edwards, Megan Lavin, Oníosa Mimna, Evonne Quinn, Ella Quinn and Caoimhe McGirl.
Recent Death
The sudden death of former Killameen resident Mrs. Mary McGonigle, Ballinamore has evoked widespread sadness. Her funeral took place on Thursday last following Mass of the Resurrection in St. Mary’s Church, Drumlea to the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her brother Dessie and other relatives and friends. Faoi chúmhdach na naomh go raibh a hanam.

Active Age
There will not be a meeting on this Wednesday night as a number of the Active Age members are going to a Bowling session in Ck on Shannon. Those who intend to go on the bus tour to Kerry in August are asked to forward their deposit.
Division 1 Win
The “Is féidir linn” resolve of under-strength Drumreilly on Saturday last in Dromod enabled them to collect their first Division 1 points with a 2-3 to 0-6 win over Bornacoola in a low-scoring game. The performance of midfield partners Declan Maxwell and Francis Holahan was paramount. The lineout was as follows: Mick McGirl, Anthony Holahan, John McKeon, Graeme Taylor, Kevin Holahan, Ollie Maguire, Brian Mitchell, Declan Maxwell (1-1), Francis Holahan, Brian Fee, Nigel Maguire, John Fee, Fergal Mitchell (1-0), James Holahan (0-2) and Seán Fee.
Athletics
Congratulations to Tomás Mimna, Drumshangore and Ballinamore A.C. on taking home bronze from the Junior Boys 1200 metres Walk in the Aviva Connacht Schools Athletics Championships in Athlone on Thursday May 19th.
GAA Club Snippets
The winners of the Drumreilly Club Annual Lotto Draw were Patricia Corby, Ballinamore, Paddy Connolly, Ardunsaghan and Ciaran Holahan Jr., Drumlea. The Five Year Club Plan was unveiled in Drumcoura Lake Resort on Saturday May 21st.
U-16 League
Garadice Gaels played host to Seán O Heslin’s on Monday May 23rd and were beaten by 4-7 to 3-7 in U-16 League. On Friday last they were also narrowly beaten by neighbours Carrigallen on a 3-10 to 3-8 score. The lineout against Seán O Heslin’s was as follows: Daire McNiff, Pierce Dolan, Kevin Murtagh, Donal McCabe, Killian Lavin, Rory McTague, Ronan Maxwell, Conor Gaffney, Mark Plunkett, Kieran O Haire, Dylan Mimna, Michael Prior, Fergal McTague, Declan Flanagan and Declan Curran. Subs: Jake Bentley and Alan Kearns. In the game against also the same panel with some positional changes was in action with the inclusion of Michael Prior for the absent Mark Plunkett, and Jake Bentley figuring among the subs.
Into the Final
The St. Bridget’s team, made up of girls from Aughawillan, Drumreilly and Aughnasheelin, is through to the U-14 final. Their opponents will be Seán O’Heslin’s, and the game may be played on Sunday next.
