Longford boxing star Martin Nevin wins the Athy Box Cup

Rising young Longford boxing star Martin Nevin achieved another significant success in his promising sports career with a fantastic win in the prestigious Athy Box Cup.

13-year-old Martin, competing in the Boy 2 category, beat a three-time English champion from London to round off a brilliant year for the Longford lad. 

Exciting boxer Nevin was crowned All-Ireland Youths champion for the second year in a row at the National Stadium in Dublin back at the beginning of May  

Another notable triumph this season was against fellow 13-year-old Solomon Dubois, a brother of former World Heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, in the highly rated Barum Cup Tournament in Devon in south west England. 

Affiliated to the Olympic Boxing Club in Galway, the St Mel’s College student is also a double Monkstown Cup winner and the future is bright for talented young boxer Martin Nevin.
