Flower Arranging Demonstration
The Annual Christmas Flower Arranging demonstration hosted by Legan ICA will take place tonight Wednesday 11th December in the GAA Clubhouse. The demonstration will be presented by Ann Murphy Florist who will make five beautiful Christmas arrangements which will be raffled. A sale of homemade Christmas Cakes Puddings and baking will start at 7.45pm. A Festive supper will be served. All money raised will be donated to three local charities Aware, Hospice and Vincent de Paul. All welcome.
Death of John Kelly
There was a sense of disbelief and deep sadness in our entire area on Sunday morning when the news of the sudden and untimely death of John Kelly, Corracorka spread. John who appeared to be in the prime of his health even on the night before he died attending Mass. John or Johnny as he was affectionately known to many aquitted himself well at different jobs in his early life before moving back to his first love farming on the family farm in Corracorka. He was extremely popular in the community for his friendship kindness neighbourliness and ever availability to be of help to others. He was an excellent farmer in the traditional mould and had a great love of and way with animals. He was a great conversationalist and always made time for a chat. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him but most especially by his brothers and sisters. He is predeceased by his sister Mary and survived by his sisters Eilish, Brigid and Margaret his brothers Joe and Michael, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, to whom we extend our sincere sympathy.
Rose Mc Cormack, Lisawarriff, Legan, wishes to thank all the people within the parish and beyond who bought Christmas Cards and gave donations in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland. The amount raised was €800 which has been forwarded to them. Rose wishes all her supporters a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
Scór na nÓg winners
Congratulations to our Scór na nÓg questiontime team of Patrick Cahill, Paddy Farrell, Darragh Gunshinan and Jack Nulty who on Sunday last won the County Longford Table Quiz. They have qualified for the All Ireland final in Castlebar in March.
Rose of Foróige
Congratulations to Robin Duke, a member of Longford Attic Club who was crowned Longford/ Roscommon Regional Rose of Foróige in the Aurora Hall, Legan on Friday night last. A very enjoyable night’s Disco entertainment was had by all. Well done to the organisers.
Results of last week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw for a jackpot of €3,700. Numbers drawn were 19, 21, 27 and 28. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were John Kirwan and Trisha Teague. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchell’s for a jackpot of €3,750. A special Christmas draw will be held on 20th December with 5 by €40 prizes. Inny Anglers would like to thank everyone that helped out and ensured the smooth running of their Lotto during the year. Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday 2nd December in The Hill Carrickboy for a jackpot of €8,200. Numbers drawn were 9, 10, 15 and 17. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winner of €100 was Nicole Mannion. This week’s draw took place in Mitchell’s on Monday night and results will be published next week.
