U-12 Final

Congratulations to the management and players involved in the great win against Ardagh last Thursday evening in Pearse Park. A special thanks to David from Tús Nua who provided the boys and girls with hot food after the game.

A Harvest Thanksgiving

A Harvest Thanksgiving service takes place in St Paul’s Church, Newtownforbes on Friday, 2nd October at 8pm. Come along and gives thanks for all you have. Followed by refreshments.


We spent a lovely day on Saturday last with Nicoletta from Scented Meadows in Carrick on Shannon learning a new skill, chalk painting, well done to all who attended and transformed a piece of furniture. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday October 6th at 8.30pm, Ann Marie and Diane are on teas and the competition is best recycled object, no problem after Saturday ladies! We will be holding an open information evening at the end of October and everyone is invited to attend, more details to follow, this promises to be an enjoyable evening and we hope to see many past, present and future members there. Finally, a huge well done to Theresa Dooner from Longford town guild on reaching the final of the Aldi brown bread competition, while Theresa didn’t win she did herself and all her local colleagues proud, well done, Theresa.

Irish Dancing

Irish dancing classes have recently resumed in the Parish Hall, Newtownforbes on Fridays at 6:30pm and continue every Friday for children of all ages and at 8:00pm for teenagers and adults. Fees €4.50 per child per lesson with an overall family rate of €10.00 per family per lesson and special reductions for those who pay the first Friday of the month. Newcomers welcome. Girls and boys all ages welcome. Parents welcome to stay at classes if they wish. Contact Maureen at (086) 3702719.

Arthritis Ireland

Arthritis Ireland Longford Branch Invite you to a Public Meeting on Tuesday 6th October at 7.30pm - 10pm. Venue: Longford Arms Hotel. Guest speaker: Prof. Gerry Wilson Chair of Rheumatology, Discussion on Life changing research in Rheumatology for a Cure, also Miranda Moran Chartered Physiotherapist; Presentation on Osteoarthritis. Pre and Post operative advice on joint replacement. Refreshments served. All welcome. No entrance fee.

Newtownforbes Friends of Longford Dyslexia

The Newtownforbes Friends of Longford Dyslexia Workshop and Longford Mental Health are holding a fundraising day on Sunday 25th October 2015. Fundraising consists of 5km/11km walk, 50km/80km cycle and a Soap Box Derby. Registration for 80km cycle takes place at Paddy Joe Murphy Sports Complex at 08.30am. Registration for 50km cycle takes place at 09.00am. Registration for cycle €20. Registration for 5km walk is at 11am and for 11km at noon – mid day. Registration €10. Registration for Soap Box Derby is at 1pm. Any queries regarding Soap Box Derby to Tommy Barden on 086 858 3593.
