Our Lady of Lourdes

Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated on Wednesday, 11 February. It is also World Day for the Sick. We pray that Our Lady of Lourdes will help all who are sick or in any kind of need. The Sacrament of the Sick will be available for anyone wishing to be Anointed on Wednesday, 11 February in Abbeylara Church at the 7.30pm Mass.

‘Done & Dusted NAN’

Our Drama Group Presents – ‘Done & Dusted NAN’ in Crover House Hotel on February 13, and 14 February 2015, members of the local drama society will perform to much applause the third part of what has turned out to be the hugely successful follow-on from ‘A Mock Wedding’ two years ago. Last year, it was ‘The Christening with a Twist’ and now, here in 2015, it’s the performance that everyone has been waiting for; ‘Done and Dusted Nan’, written and directed by Áine Drake. Guaranteed to make the audience laugh, this play has had the cast and members of the production crew working tirelessly for the past few weeks in preparation for the big opening night and if rumour is anything to go by, they certainly won’t disappoint the huge numbers of people who are expected to turn out to support the cause. The play itself is brilliantly written and directed by Áine, who is becoming somewhat famous in the locality these days. This time round the audience will be reacquainted with some memorable characters and there will also be some new standout ones to enjoy as well. Tickets are now €15 each and are available from any cast member, designated ticket sellers, Mary Ledwith or Mary O’Connor. Country Markets

Granard Country Markets held their Annual General Meeting in the Greville Arms Hotel on Friday morning last and the following officers were elected for the coming year; Chairperson Maggie Norton, Secretary Angela Durkin, Treasurer Alan Harrison, PRO Eileen Kilbride, and Controller Breege Mulfaul. To celebrate St. Valentine’s Day there will be a free raffle for all customers on Friday next. There will be Valentines cards, gifts and cakes on sale along with the usual products and the market is open from 8.30am to 11.00am on upper Main Street beside the Post Office.

Bereavement Course

A six week Bereavement Course for adults who experienced the death of a relative or close friend begins in the Family Resource Centre Longford on Wednesday, February 18 at 8.00pm. This course will be presented by two trained, caring and experienced facilitators. Over the years many people have found this course very helpful in coping with their bereavement. Tea Party

A Tea Party will be held in the Stag’s Head on Valentine’s night. 14 February. There will be music form the Ramblers.
