Coffee morning for Longford Hospice Homecare has been rescheduled and will take place after Mass on Saturday, 4th October in St Anne’s Hall, Ballycloghan and in GAA clubhouse on Sunday, 5th October. Please support as all funds raised stay local.

The Country Boy

The Little Theatre Company, Athlone will present “The Country Boy” in the Aurora Hall, Legan on Friday, 24th October. More details in coming weeks.

Best of luck

Legan ICA wish Margaret Kelly, Rathowen guild best of luck in the All Ireland brown bread making competition sponsored by Aldi at the National ploughing event this week. Also best of luck to Margo Ward and Longford pitch and putt team in the national finals at Seapoint pitch and putt club this Saturday, 27th September.

Race night

Lenamore National School and Parents Association would like to say a big thank you to all who generously bought tickets, game sponsorship, placed advertisements, donated prizes, attended and supported on the night of our fundraiser at Longford greyhound track. A large crowd attended and a great night was had by all and not to forget our teachers who held a novelty race which was thoroughly enjoyed especially by the children. The total amount raised was 7,019 euro which is really appreciated by all involved. Once again we thank everybody for their support and generosity.


Results of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 15th September in Mitchells for a jackpot of 10,000 euro. Numbers drawn were 8, 18, 21, 25. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of 50 euro each were P Byrne and D Moran. This week’s draw took place on Monday, 22nd September in Connaughton’s, Rathowen and results will be published next week.

Vigil Mass time

As and from this weekend Saturday, 4th October, St Anne’s vigil Mass will be at 7pm.

Blessing of graves in new cemetery follows mass in Legan this Sunday, 5th October.

Ruby anniversary

Congratulations to Michael and Marian O’Neill, Vicarstown who celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary last weekend with a party in Mitchell’s for family relatives and friends. We wish them, many more happy years together.

Drama meeting

A meeting of Legan Drama group takes place tonight Wednesday, 25th September at 8pm in GAA clubhouse. All members please attend and new members welcome.

Church gate collection

The Longford branch of the Alzheimers Society of Ireland will hold their church gate collection on Saturday, 27th and Sunday, 28th September throughout the county. The money collected will contribute to continued services in home care services, respite services, transport service and day care facilities. All of these services are dedicated to respecting the rights of people with Alzheimers disease and supporting their carers. Please support generously.
