Uncle Danny

We send our congratulations to the owners of a now very famous horse named “Uncle Danny”. The horse is named in honour of Danny Gray, Dromod and is owned by the Leitrim/Waterford/London (LWL) Partnership which includes Conor and Danny Gray, Niall, David & Jonathan O’Connor, Feargal McGill, Nessa and Jonathan Taylor and Danny’s Waterford born nephews, John, Pearse, Niall and Alan Flynn, (their father Niall was from Drumshanbo, their mother the recently departed Dottie Gray, Fearglass, Gortletteragh). It won the Bumper on the last day of the Punchestown Festival, (last Saturday). It is a five year old gelding and this was its first run on the track, having previously participated in two point-to-points, winning the second of these in Lismore last March. Danny collected the crystal trophy and prizemoney of €6,900 on behalf of the partnership afterwards and was interviewed live on SKY’s “At the Races”. The horse started at 10/1 on Saturday but was backed in to 9/2. Along with its owners, locals at Punchestown on the day who had a few bob on the horse included Keelan Faughnan, Padraig & Sharon Jones and Tanya (Duignan) and Stephen Beresford. The horse will now go out to grass until the autumn, but is likely to have it’s next race in October.
