Car Boot Sale: Killashee Tidy Towns Committee is hosting a stand at the forthcoming Car Boot Sale in Flancare Park on Monday 3rd June 2013. This is a good opportunity to declutter and have a good (late) Spring Clean! We will take unwanted gifts, CDs, books, small household items, bric-a-brac, toys and small tools. These can be dropped into The Chestnut Tree, Killashee any evening between 6pm and 9pm until Thursday 30th May. Alternatively, collection can be organised by texting 087-2026894 or 086-4083393. All proceeds from the sale of these items will go directly to improvements and developments in your village.
Litter Pick: Great improvements have occurred in our village in recent times. It is now time for the community to play their part in maintaining the improvements by participating in weekly litter picks. These will commence on Saturday 25th May at 11am and Wednesday 29th May at 7pm and continue weekly on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings thereafter. Meeting point at the National School. Bring hi-vis jackets and a friend. Come along for a walk and a chat and help your community.
Community Games: The annual sports day was postponed and now will take place on Monday 27th May at St. Brigid’s Football Pitch at 5pm. Best of luck to Cait and Clodagh Kiely, and Cian Clancy who are representing Longford in the Community Games National Finals in Athlone next weekend. Cait and Clodagh are taking part in the cross country running and Cian is taking part in the art. We wish Cait, Clodagh and Cian the best of luck.
Cloontagh National School Enrolment: Parents wishing to enrol their child in Cloontagh National School for September 2013 are invited to pick up an enrolment pack at the school office.
Local Lotto Draw: The local lotto was held on Sunday night last. Numbers drawn were 16, 20, 23 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. €40 winner was Mary Ireland. €20 each went to Pat Costello, Chelsey McKendry, Michaela and Rían Cox. The next draw will be held in The Chestnut Tree, Killashee, on Monday 3rd June for a jackpot of €4,640. The club appreciates your continued support.
Killashee National School Reunion: Preparations are ongoing for Killashee N.S. Reunion which will take place on 14th/15th June. At present the organising committee are collecting old school photos which we hope to copy and display on the evening. Anyone with old photos can hand them into the school or Magans and of course these will be returned after copying. We hope to have Mass on the evening of the 14th followed by a lecture on the history of the school and parish. There will be refreshments served in Magans afterwards and entertainment will be provided with some local and “not so local” talent. All are welcome to what will be a great evening of reminiscing ad entertainment for young and old.
the Briar of Killashee: St. Brigid’s GAA club Killashee is hosting the ‘The Briar of Killashee’ – a talent show with a difference. It promises to be a fantastic night in Mc P’s Clondra on Saturday night next 25th May commencing at 9.30pm. All the entertainment will cost you only €10 each. It promises to be one of the most hilarious nights to be held in the county for many a long year.
