LITTER: We would ask people to please refrain from discarding litter along the roads. Sighting of beer bottles, whiskey/brandy, nappies etc have bee located around Carrigy’s Cross before you enter Ennybegs village. Youths returning from Longford takeaways please do not throw empty boxes out the car window as you should have a better concept of this issue as continuous exercises in the school curriculum are in place. Also on Clontumpher road a very unsightly litter being monitored.
NEW SIGNS: The parish wish to thank Longford County Council area engineer , team supervisor Joe Clarke and colleagues for erection of our new village signage. He who waits gets there in the end and we hope the community are happy with the end product. They sure look very effective.
YOGA: Ennybegs Community Centre Yoga fitness classes commence on Thursday 7 March at 10.30am. Learning to control breathing , tone muscles , calm the mind and cope with stress. Just giving yourself an hour from the busy world. Further information contact Kathleen 087 2868254.
GAA: A fun run in aid of Emmet Og Killoe GAA will be held on Sunday 24 March 2013 commencing at 12 noon from Emmet Og Clonee Killoe grounds. Registration from 10am – 11.30am. A 5K/10K run. Adults 10 euro, child 5 euro. Refreshments will be serviced afterwards. Seek lots of fun on the Killoe run.
CHERNOBYL: Emily Hughes, daughter of Frank and Margaret Farragh Killoe with a group of Tralee Roses from all counties are committing their time to do voluntary work in the orphanage at Vesnova Belarus. Emily and group pay for their own travel but will be fundraising to supply basic necessities for the orphanage children. A function will be held in Begleys pub Killoe on Sunday 17 March 2013 where raffle of many fine prizes including Galway crystal vouchers, hampers etc will be held. Raffle cards available locally and from family members.
COMMUNITY GAMES: The Community Games Tag Rugby Competitions took place in Ballymahon Convent Field on Sunday the 17th February. Our U11 Tag Rugby Team of Darren Moffett, Sean Clyne, Shane Gilna, Tomas Walsh, Jack Linnane, Killian Feeney, Sarah Tully, Maria Reehill, Rachel Eivers, Oisin McManus, Joe Morrissey and Gavin Farrelly played two great games of Tag Rugby. They beat Ballymahon/Forgney in their first game but were beaten by a marginally stronger Clonguish team in the final. Congrats on silver medals and well done to all. We had two U14 Teams. The Killoe B Team of Darren Dooner, David Heffernan, Enda Bracken, Evan Farrelly, Niamh Brady, Euan Finneran, Eoghan Smith, Aishling Morrissey and Anna Moorhead played a closely fought game against Ballymahon/Forgney, game could have gone either way. They were unlucky to be beaten and no doubt will be serious contenders next year. Our Killoe A Team of Shane McManus, Fiona Hebron, Shane Morrissey, Eamon Keogh, Liam Harte, Leah Dunleavy, Niall Finneran, Sinead Donohoe, Ronan Moffett, Aimee Lennon and Paul Brady were a very strong team, put in a great performance and they won the County Final in their game against Ballymahon/Forgney. Congrats and the best of luck in your first Leinster game against Slane which will take place this month. Many thanks to Steve Coy, Stephen Coy, Turlough Farrelly, Mary Morrissey and Sean Feeney who were involved in training and managing the teams. The Table Quiz County Final takes place on Tuesday, the 12th. March in the Park House Edgeworthstown. Best of luck to our teams taking part.
