CARRIGALLEN FOOTBALLERS: Carrigallen footballers give a great performance against Leitrim senior champions. Carrigallen senior footballers travelled to Cloone football park for to do battle against Glencar/Manorhamilton who got a big shock during this game when they had to call on their vast experience for to win this one when the Carrigallen backs and goalkeeper held them goalless from play in this very entertaining game.
They forced Glencar in making many mistakes in their successful goal rush during the game. Carrigallen forwards got through their shaky defence for 3 well taken goals likely the first team for to record this on this brilliant team who had to call on their world of experience for to pull this one off when they won this one on a scoreline of 0-20 to 3-4 for Carrigallen showing the great art of scoring points which can win games. Its been noticed that a number of clubs have won matches this year on points such as 0-14 to 0-6 ,0-16 0-9, 0-14 1-8,0-10 1-6 & 2-12 1-11. This is some record and goes to show points can win matches also.

ACTIVE AGE: Carrigallen and Drumeela Active age. Carrigallen and Drumeela Active Age recently organised a day trip to Dublin to attend the Bloom Garden Festival in Phoenix Park. In spite of the rain everyone enjoyed seeing the beautiful show gardens and the various displays and stands both in and around the Grand pavilion - a real day to remember full of ideas to transform our own gardens in time for the summer. Some of us took the opportunity to catch up with what was going on in the Victorian walled garden within Phoenix Park and marvelled at the quality and variety of the vegetables and herbs growing there. Not a weed in site and no sign of the dreaded slugs and snails (or slug pellets) that are plaguing our fruit and vegetables back in Carrigallen, how do they do that ? The day ended with a stop at the Lucan Spa Hotel for dinner on the way home, a lovely way to end a really enjoyable day. A visit to the organic centre at Rossinver is next on our list – continuing with the gardening theme maybe? And then later on in the year we are planning a short 3 day break to Wexford. As always our grateful thanks to our hard working secretary (Elizabeth Mulligan) for organising everything for us and making it all go so smoothly.
