Karate Club

Well done to Ronan, Donagh, Aaron, Darragh, Allen & Ciaran who graded last week. In many aspects it was a tough grading and the lads did exceptionally well. Welcome to Gemma our newest member in Newtown. Training times are Monday and Thursday in Newtown from 7-8pm and Kilglass on Wednesday from 7-8pm. Siamsa

An Irish Language Summer Course (SIAMSA!) will take place from Monday, 7th July to Friday 11th July in Gaelscoil Longfoirt.  The course will take place from 9.30am to 3pm each day and will cater for students from Second Class to First Year.  Further information and applications forms available from Yvonne Ní Mhurchú 087-2642665

Monster Bingo

Bingo will be held in the PJ Murphy Sports Hall on Sunday 8th June at 3pm. €2,500 to be won. Monster raffle on the day.

Field Day

Sunday 8th June, 2014 Abbeylara, Co. Longford. This promises to be a great day with many events such as Tractor Pulling (Tractors 60HP to 500HP), Dog Show, Wellie Throwing, Bouncing Castle, Trap & Pony Rides, Best Dressed Lady, Fun Fair, and much more on the day. Tidy Towns

Adjudication time is almost upon us and if there is anything that needs tidying up around your property please tackle it a.s.a.p. DOG FOULING is a serious problem along the footpaths and we ask again for people to clean up after their pets. There are very few stray dogs so pet owners know when their dogs offend and for other walkers sake please clean up after your dogs.  Tuesday evening work nights continue at 7.30 pm.

Wedding bells

Congratulations to Dermot Manning, Ballagh and Niamh McIntyre, Aughavas who were married recently in St. Joseph’s Church, Aughavas. We wish them a long healthy and happy life together.

Retreat

Prayers

Divine Mercy prayer meeting in St Mary’s parish church, Newtownforbes every Monday at 3pm. Special prayers include the Chaplet and Novena of the Divine Mercy, prayer of Concentration to the Divine Mercy and St Faustina’s Station of the Cross. All are welcome and bring a friend.

Vigil

The next First Friday/Saturday Reparation and Adoration vigil to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary is in the Chapel of Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown on Friday the 6th of June commencing at 10pm with the Holy rosary and confession. Good luck

Best of luck to local Clonguish lads and all Longford hurlers in Croke Park next Saturday at 12 noon in Lory Meagher final against Fermanagh. Please come along and support. Its a great achievement and a good crowd of supporters would be great. We also wish the Clonguish lads good luck in Longford football Leinster Senior Championship quarter final at 7pm in Pearse Park against Wexford.
