Tang Muintir Community Council
Preserving the history of our ancient Graveyards? – WE INVITE YOU to get involved? John Tierney from Eachtra Archaeological Projects will assist our Project where we will photograph, document and record information off all headstones in our local cemeteries. This will be of special interest to descendants of past generations in tracing their roots. This Project will be carried out in our three cemeteries, Templeavalley, Noughaval and Ardnacraney over the course of six days, 27, 28, 29 March and 3, 4 & 5th April. This is a very worthwhile project and has been successfully done in many communities throughout Ireland. We are fortunate to have secured Funding from Westmeath Community Development to carry out this Project. We need more volunteers - even for either of the 3 days -if you are interested in taking part in this team project please contact Tom Conlon, Jill Stanley, Kieran Sheerin or Ben Lynn.
We extend our deepest sympathy to the Carey families, (Ardnacraney) on the death of their sister, Nora Cassidy and to the Allen family, (Bryanmore, Mount Temple) on the death of their mother, Mary Allen RIP.
We would be delighted to have more members on our Tidy Towns Committee, so if you would like to join our Committee or help out in any way please contact Michael Conlon, Jill Stanley or Ger Curran. Tidy Towns have various projects to carry out over the coming months and we appeal for new members to come on board please contact us if interested.
As part of our landscaping project, we are proposing to plant native trees over the coming months. We recently suggested that perhaps people in the parish might like to make a donation for a tree, maybe in memory of a loved one or even a donation towards new shrub beds. We would like to thank all who made donations and hope you enjoy watching your tree grow with a sense of pride. We will be planting many trees and bedding during the next few months and if anyone would like to make a donation or special request we would be delighted to hear from you. You can contact Michael Conlon, Jill Stanley or Ger Curran at any time. With your assistance and lots of ideas, we look forward to brightening up our parish with plenty of colour throughout the seasons and thank you so much for your co-operation and support.
