Predeceased by her husband and son she is survived by her two sons three daughters, grandchildren, brothers Martin, Ballinagh; Michael, Urney, Danny, (Dublin), Eamon (USA), Tim, Tony and John in England, sister Rose, Urney, Ballinagh, Marietta and Pauleen in Dublin, nephews nieces and relatives to whom I extend the sympathy of our community. May her soul rest in peace. The funeral took place on Thursday August 22nd in Seathan on Sea.

Beloved resident

There was profound sorrow with the news of the death following a brief illness of one of the town’s most beloved residents Kathleen O’Reilly, Crossdoney Road, Ballinagh. Kathleen had spent some years in England before returning to her homeland and taking up residence on Crossdoney Road where she became a kind and beloved friend of young and old. By her warm and friendly personality, her pleasant smile and her kindness to one and all made her one of the town’s most beloved residents. There was a very large attendance at the removal of the remains to St Felim’s Church, Ballinagh on Sunday August 18th while the funeral on Monday which again was of very large dimensions and bore testimony of the esteem with which the deceased was held throughout the district, took place following requiem mass to the family burial ground. Rev Peter Casey PP officiated and may her gentle soul rest in peace. To her family and relatives I extend the sympathy of our community.

A big contingent of local Gaels travelled to Croke Park on Sunday for the meeting of Connacht champions Mayo and Tyrone in the All Ireland senior football championship semi final. For Ballinagh based Garda Joe O’Connor the game which saw Mayo qualify for the final was of special interest as the popular Garda is a former Mayo star who gave sterling service in the green and red jersey of his native county on the green sward of Croke Park while on Sunday last Garda O’Connor’s nephew Gillian who was winner of the All Ireland young player of the year in 2011 and 2012 was playing a ‘blinder’ for the Connacht champions until forced to retire with a shoulder injury.
