The news was greeted with great shock and sadness when it arrived on Saturday 19th February of the sudden death at his residence of Tom Harrison, Ballyleague. Tom along with his wife Katharine ran a very successful grocery and filling station in Ballyleague for many years until their retirement two years ago. Tom was a native of Kilteevan who move to Ballyleague many years ago where they developed a thriving business. Tom was a very popular and supportive man of all things local. He was a very active member of Lough Ree Sub Aqua Club for over 20 years where he held various positions within the club. Tom was really enjoying his retirement until his sudden death and in days prior he was actively doing a major clean-up in preparation on new leasees of his business. Tom’s presence in Ballyleague and indeed the area will be sadly missed. His remains were removed from his family residence on Tuesday last to the Church of the Holy Rosary for his funeral Mass and cremation took place at Mount Jerome cemetery, Dublin. To his wife Katharine, daughters Patricia, Caroline, Jackie and Caroline son David, mother Christine, sisters Mary, Philomena and Helen, brother Gerry, relatives and many friends we extend our deepest sympathy.
