Death of Mike Kelly
There was deep regret and sadness at the passing of Michael (Mike) Kelly, Killeen at St Joseph’s Hospital, Longford on Monday last after a long illness. Mike lived all his life in his beloved Killeen where he worked his farm as well as working in many different industries. He was a really likeable funny and witty individual with an ability to make light of some most difficult situations. Quite a talented footballer playing most of his football with Ardagh. He was one of the founder members of the present Legan Sarsfield Club of which he was honoured to be its first Chairman. He later held many positions in the Club while also remaining a player for many years. He was also active in the local Drama Society and performed in many productions most recently “Sive” and “The Field” but above all he will be remembered as a loyal friend and great neighbour. He will be missed by all who knew him but particularly by his wife Annie and son Padraig relatives neighbours and friends to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. His removal to St Mary’s Church Legan was on Tuesday and he was laid to rest following Requiem Mass on Wednesday in Kilglass Cemetery. May he rest in Peace.
