Curatorial team of artists and non artists involved in the hosting of The Boyle Civic Collection Exhibition at Solas Art Gallery, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim. Exhibition was opened by Rhona Feely and continues till 22nd November 2013.Curatorial Team: Celia Richard, Carol Wood, Linda Shevlin, Gail Quinn, Louis McLoughlin, Brendan Dean, Sandra Vernon, Thomas G.Flynn & Isabella Bazzani. Well done to all involved. Solas Gallery and the curatorial team would like to thank the Boyle Civic Art Collection Committee for all their support and assistance with this project.


The points total after three rounds of the Francis McGirl Memorial Cup Competition is:

On Tuesday 19th November at 8pm, as part of the library’s Winter Lecture Series, Fr Liam Kelly will give a talk in Ballinamore Library on Edward King Tenison pioneer photographer and M.P. for Leitrim Edward King Tenison (1805-78) was born at Castle Tenison, now Kilronan Castle, in January 1805. He had a privileged background studying first at Eton and then at Cambridge where he was awarded an MAdegree . He married Lady Louisa Anson in 1838 and served as a Liberal MP for Leitrim from 1847-52. He was High Sheriff for Leitrim and Roscommon and also served as a Justice of the Peace for Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo. He is, however, best known for his pioneering photography, taking excellent photographs in Ireland, France and Spain in the 1850s. Some of the photographs which he took in Leitrim in the 1850s have survived and these are among the earliest surviving photographs taken in the county. He died in June 1878 at Castle Tenison. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Bridge Club

Charity Car Wash

Drama Festival

The much looked forward to Ballinamore Drama Festival 2014 have been fixed for March 7-16th. Every year the festival brings top quality groups to the town. The committee seem to be able to select plays to Ballinamore that go forward to the All Ireland Drama festival and take the top prize. So put these dates in your diary. The Chairman of the Festival for 2014 is Camillus Martin and we are always delighted to see new faces to help during that week.

Job Seeking Skills Course 
County Leitrim Job Club will be running a job seeking skills course in Ballinamore Enterprise Centre commencing on Monday 14th October 2013 and running for four weeks. The course covers all aspects of job seeking (including basic computer skills) and runs 10am to 1pm, Mon-Friday. An attendance allowance is available to participants on this programme. Tourism Training Workshop – Developing bundled experiences for visitors. Athletic Club
Well done to our athletes who brought home ten medals from the Connacht Cross Country Championships in Moore last Sunday. Training continues 6pm to 7pm, Tuesday and Thursday nights and new members always welcome.

Scór na nOg
The first rounds of scór na nóg 2014 will take place at the later than usual dates of January 4th and 5th. The county final will take place in Carrick on Shannon on Jan 12th. Billy’s World Charity

The launch of Billy’s World charity is on Fri night 29th November in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, commencing at 7.30pm. The charity is being set up by Tony Byrne, Carrick-on-Shannon, whose five year old son passed away earlier this year. The charity hopes to raise enough money in the future to open a holiday centre in Carrick-on-Shannon for special needs children and their families, the first of its kind in Ireland. This would be a huge economic boost for the local area and an amazing experience for disabledthese children and their families. Night at the Dogs
Longford Macra na Feirme have launched their upcoming club and national fundraising night at the dogs – ‘Racing for Macra’. At the launch were Macra National President, Kieran O’Dowd and National Chairman, Ronan Feighery, along with ‘Sparky’, our mascot! Ronan Feighery said, “Macra are delighted to invite you all to our gathering, ‘Racing for Macra’. This is the first club and national fundraising night at the dogs we have organised. It’s set to be a fun and entertaining night out and will also make a huge contribution to an organisation that is doing great work for rural young people in Longford. Come along and support Macra clubs across Longfordwhile you have a great night out!” The ‘Racing for Macra’ club and national fundraiser will take place on the 30th November in Mullingar Greyhound Stadium and will be a chance for past and present members and supporters to get together. Rainbows Programme
Breffni Family Resource Centre is pleased to be in a position to offer the Rainbows Programme for children who are grieving a death, separation or other painful transition in their family.  RAINBOWS helps by providing a safe setting in which children and young people can share their feelings, emotions and struggles with others who have similar experiences. They are supported in this process by trained facilitators.   Rainbows is commencing a FREE 12 week programme at Breffni FRC from Monday , 4 th November 2013 . 

Basic Life Support Training
