Credit Union

Ballymahon & district credit Union is now accepting entries for it’s third level scholarship. The scholarship is open to students who completed their leaving certificate exams in 2013, attended either the vocational school or mercy Secondary school in Ballymahon and are members of Ballymahon & District Credit Union. Applicants must be commencing a FAS apprenticeship or a full time certificate, diploma or degree course at any university, IT or approved third level college. The scholarship will be paid at a rate of 1000 euro per annum for a maximum of three years. Entry forms and further details are available from the Credit Union office. Closing date for receipt of entries is 28 September 2013.

Kilcommock cemetery

There will be discussion on procedure and a clean up in Kilcommock cemetery on this coming Saturday September 7th from two to three pm.

Whist

There will be a whist drive in the lecture hall Kenagh on Tuesday night September 10th at 8.30pm. All are welcome.

Work for you

“Work 4 you” set up by Acquired Brain Injury Ireland provides a free vocational assessment service for individuals who have an acquired brain Injury and want support to return to work , training or education. It is free to anyone with an acquired brain injury aged 16 – 65 and in receipt of a payment from the Dept of Social Protection. For further information call 044 9338773.

World champ

Best wishes to Riona Murtagh, daughter of Pete and Carmel, Derryveigh who will be representing Ireland in the world triathlon championships in Hyde Park London on Friday September 13th. Riona is a very competent athlete and qualified for this event against very stiff opposition. Riona is at present living in Carlow where she has taken up athletics very seriously with good results. We look forward to Riona bringing home the honours.

Collection

There will be a church gate collection outside Saint Dominics Church Kenagh on next weekend September 7th and 8th in aid of the Irish Heart foundation. Please give generously.

Back to school

We send good wishes to all the new pupils who attended Kenagh NS for the first time ever last Thursday. Hopefully they will settle down to their new surroundings as soon as possible. We also send our best wishes to all the new pupils who will begin secondary school next week.

Irish dancing classes

Irish dancing classes will resume in St Dominics Community Centre Kenagh on Monday 16 September 5.30pm. Contact Maureen on 086 3702719.

Progressive 25

Winners in St Dominc’s Centre last Thursday night were Barney and Eugene twelve games, they win eighty euro. Mike and Pat eleven games win fifty euro. Table prizes - Tom and Larry, Tommy and Frank all win twenty euro each. Raffle: Bridie Dolan, Bernie Smith, Peter Donlon, Bernie Walsh, Niall Hughes, Josie Connaughton. All win ten euro each.
