Longford motorists report major delays on N4 following crash. Second incident unconfirmed.

Longford motorists are being advised to avoid the N4 Ballinalack and Ballynacarrigy this evening and tonight following lengthy tailbacks and delays arising from two incidents - the second of which is still unconfirmed.  

Gardaí have confirmed that a road traffic accident occurred on the N4 Ballinalack, County Westmeath, late this evening. The road is currently closed with diversion routes in place as Gardaí and paramedics attend the scene.

The second car crash - said to have taken place on the diversion route in Ballynacarrigy - is currently unconfirmed.

Longford motorists have reported long tailbacks and delays on the diversion route in question. 

Road users are advised to avoid both areas this evening.
