COLMCILLE PLOUGHING: With only a few weeks to go to this year’s ploughing most things are on target for the weekend of 13th - 14th of August. Tickets are on sale for raffle. First prize is a heifer or 800 euro , 2nd prize weekend away for two, 3rd prize 100 euro. On Saturday 13th there will be a tractor run from the cross. At 3 o’clock as a fun event there will be a vintage parade to start the ploughing on the 14th up the ladies road to top of Smear Hill. On next Friday 29th there will be a press night in Gerry McCabes Glenview pub at 9 sharp. So with everything in line, lets hope the good weather will continue . Thanks to all the committee and sponsors from Colmcille ploughing.
Annagh Swimming Pool: The annual swimming and life saving lessons for adults and children will commence at Annagh Swimming Pool on Monday next July 25th and continue until August 5th. Enrolment at the pool on Sunday July 24th 12.30 –1.30 and on Monday morning at 9.15. Adult classes each evening.
local success: Well done to Nathan Brady who won the Tommy Hayden Cup for his solo singing at the recent Leinster Fleadh in the 12-15 year category. This was the 12 year old’s first year singing in this category and was a major triumph for Nathan. Nathan will now compete in the All Ireland Fleadh in Cavan this month. Congratulations also to Nathan’s brother Stephen who won third place in solo singing in his catergory in the Leinster Fleadh.
