'Bright and bubbly, Longford warrior' Caroline Kiernan sparkles on RTE Late Late Toy Show

Described by her teachers and fellow pupils at St Teresa's National School, Killoe as 'bright and bubbly' and possessing the traits of a 'warrior', everyone in Longford was immensely proud of how Caroline Kiernan sparkled on the Late Late Toy Show.

Representing Longford in the Parade of Counties, talented Caroline, following her introduction to the live RTE studio audience by host Patrick Kielty, performed a delightful piece of ballet.

Earlier this year, Caroline voluntarily cut her hair by 12-inches for LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice, a charity that helps children and young people with palliative and complex care needs. 

Caroline is a sweet, shy girl who has been through more than most. She lost her mother - Bernadette Kiernan (née Ireland), Esker, Ballinalee, died in 2022 from Danon Syndrome - just before her communion and her only brother James, not only has additional needs but also has ill health and the same condition that took her mother from her. 

Thursday was a truly magical day in St Teresa's NS as they celebrated their Christmas Jumper Day in honour of wonderful 6th class pupil, Caroline, ahead of her appearance on the Late Late Toy Show.

St Teresa's NS teacher Áine Brady said, "Caroline is a warrior, she is bright and bubbly. She lost her light when her mother died, but when she started to dance she has found joy in movement. She is always smiling and dancing."

Ms Brady added, "Dancing shows me the little girl who doesn't have to worry about everything and everyone in the world. I feel she is the epitome of what the Late Late Toy Show stands for. She raises money for charity (€5,000 for Laura Lynn), she is kind and inclusive of all."

Ms Brady said the inspirational Caroline who lit up RTE TV screens on Friday night 'is a wonderful friend to all' and 'always shows empathy beyond her years'. "Caroline is a normal girl, with an amazing dad (Seamus) and a spirit that refuses to be broken."
