North Longford Anglers three day pike fishing festival May 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Day 1: Check in at Gulladoo car park, fishing 11am to 6pm. Day 2: Fishing 10am to 5pm, check in Murtagh’s bar, fishing Lough Gowna. Day 3: Lady day fishing 12 noon to 4pm. Life jackets must be used when fishing. Tight lines.
The Hit & Miss Golf Society had a great golf outing at Esker Hills golf club, the home of Shane Lowry. The course was in fabulous shape , we received a great Offaly welcome from the staff in the golf club. We had a good turnout of twenty players. Winner on the day was Thomas McKeon with 35pts. Our next outing is on the Saturday, 2nd May in Longford Golf Club where we play our match with Granard Golf Society for the Tom Walsh Cup. We will be defending our 2014 winning title against a good Granard team. Can all players please be on time so the matches can be organised. A text message will be sent out to all players regarding the starting time.
The club will host a demonstration on how to make up and maintain a perfect hanging basket at 9pm this Thursday, April 30th in the Community Centre. Cover charge €2. Everyone welcome.

Granard country markets wish to announce to all their customers and friends that from Friday April 24th the market will be held in THE MOTTE PROJECT building opposite Kearney’s garage on the Dublin road. The Blessing of Graves will take place in Purth on Saturday 1st of August following 7pm mass and on Sunday 2nd in Colmcille.

The annual Dring Festival takes place this year on the 31st of May on the shores of Lough Gowna in Dring car park. Its a day not to be missed and as usual its in aid of St Christopher’s in Longford.
Leebeen park and Colmcille Area Development Group held their spring draw in Murtaghs Pub on Sunday evening last. All the prizes were sponsored by Charles McCord, Garden Equipment, Longford and Liffey Distributors Limited.
