Cycle and Climb

The 4th Annual Glenn Brady Memorial Cycle and Climb, from Longford to Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday June 1st.  This is a very enjoyable and rewarding challenge, setting off from Longford at 4:30am to complete the 147km cycle and then take on the 3.5 hour climb of Croagh Patrick.  The popularity of this event has grown massively since it began in 2011, and 2014 will be bigger than ever.  So there’s plenty of time to get the training in over the coming weeks.  Details for registration will be available soon.

Weight Watchers in The Green every Wednesday morning at 11.30 a.m. and every Thursday evening at 8pm.


Fundraiser Head Shave 30th May Coy’s Bar Longford, starting at 9.30pm in aid of Lauralynn House, Ireland’s only childrens hospice and St.James’s Hospital Foundation. Marion Prendergast and Jo Purkis from Killoe will be shaving their heads to raise money for these very worthy charities.

Garden Open Day

There is an Open Garden Day being held at Paddy and Mary Gillooley’s Garden, Mill Road, Drumlish on Saturday, 24th May from 10am-6.30pm. Admission is optional and all funds raised are in aid of The Carol Galvin Forde Fund. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Official opening

The Perfect Petal Florist & Gift Shop will have their Official opening next Friday, 16th May at 12 noon. The shop is owned by Stephen and Bernie (formally Kenny) Mullen of Whitehill, Edgeworthstown. It caters for all your funeral and wedding flowers as well as wedding invites and a wide range of handmade gifts. Items include – soaps, knitting and crochet, woodturning, patchwork and much more.
