The Irish Kidney Association would like to thank most sincerely all those who contributed to their recent church gate collection in the Parish. The amount collected was €795 for which the are very grateful.
The annual Ploughing and field day will take place next Sunday, August 30th on the lands of the Bleakley family. Usual attractions include Bouncing Castles, Dog Show, Ducking Chair, Pet Farm, and lots more besides. Extra special attraction this year is a working mill on the farm since 1790 which Longford Rose, Daphne Howard will open on the day.

Its that time of the year again when School uniforms, School bags, lunch boxes, bus tickets and much, more occupy the minds of parents and students alike. We wish all those who a returning to school, all who are starting in a new school and all who are starting for the first time the very best for the year ahead. St Colmcille’s NS re-opens on Monday, 31st August. Moyne Community School re-opens for 1st year students only on Monday, 31st August on Tuesday, 1st Sept for 1st, 3rd and 6th year students, Wednesday, 2nd for 2nd and 5th year students and on Thursday, 3rd September for TY.
Next meeting this Wednesday night in Murtagh’s Bar at 10pm. The club wish to thank all those who contributed so generously to their recent fundraiser in aid of Longford Hospice.

Ardscoil Phádraig are currently finalising their enrolment process for QQI Level 5 courses in Animal Care and Nursing Studies. These QQI Level 5 courses are suitable for both school leavers and mature students who wish to return to education and gain new skills or employment. The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine will take place Sunday, September 6th. Bus leaving Colmcille at 10.20am, Ballinalee at 10.40am, also bus leaving Gowna at 9.45am, Mullinalaghta at 10am, Granard at 10.15am. Tickets cost €16 and are available in the sacristies after Masses and in the Post office.
