The mobile unit of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service will visit St. Brigid’s Community Centre, Loch Gowna on Monday, 28th April and Tuesday, 29th April. The clinic will be in operation each day from 5.00p.m.- 8.30p.m. One in four people will need a blood transfusion at some point in their lives. 3000 units of blood are required each week to service the needs of our hospitals. Sometimes it may be for a routine surgical procedure such a a hip operation. Other times it may be for someone recovering from a road traffic accident, major surgery like a heart bypass or perhaps a transfusion is needed to enable a patient to tolerate the effects of cancer. For the above reasons we appeal to all donors to attend. New donors are always welcome. All healthy people over 18 are eligible to donate.
