Old mobile phone collection

St Patrick’s National School are currently collecting old mobile phones for the Jack and Jill Foundation. If they collect 120 phones, the school will receive a free laptop. Each person who donates a phone will be in with a chance of winning VIP tickets to see One Direction in concert. If you have any old mobile phones that you would like to donate, please leave them into the school or drop them, in the collection box located in the post office. Please leave a note with your name address and telephone number if you wish to be entered into the One Direction draw.

25 card game in St Brigid’s Community Centre every Tuesday night at 8.30pm. Please note time change of start of game.

Tea party

St Patrick’s NS Parents Association are holding a Tea Party on Friday, 25th April in Pikers Lodge at 8.30pm. Some of the items for auction on the night are Gareth Brooks tickets, tickets for rugby autumn international Ireland v South Africa, One Direction poster, signed by the band, tickets for tea party are available from parents or contact 087 9754170/ 087 2484140. Tickets 10 euro.

Blood transfusion service

The mobile unit of the Blood Transfusion Service will visit St Brigid’s Community Loch Gowna on Monday, 28th April and Tuesday, 29th April. Clinic times 5pm to 8.30pm. Please support this essential service. It is very important that we all remember that many patients in hospital need our blood.


Sympathy is extended to Kathleen Donnelly and Mary Keogh, c/o Fosters Chemist, Arva on the death of their mother, Mrs Brigid Donnelly, Shanmullagh, Ballinamuck which occurred on Thursday, 10th April. Also sympathy to Mrs Donnelly’s extended family. May she rest in peace.


Deepest sympathy is extended to Sean O’Reilly, Loch Gowna Village on the death of his brother, Declan O’Reilly, Galway and formerly of Grousehall, Lougduff which occurred in Galway on Saturday, 12th April. Also sympathy to his brothers Brendan, Thomas, Bernard, and Malachy, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. His remains were removed from Galway on Monday to St Joseph’s Church,Lougduff and following funeral Mass at 12 noon, burial took place in the local cemetery. May he rest in peace.


Latin School Players will present their 3 Act play Kevin’s Bed’ by Bernard Farrell in the Latin School Community Centre, Moyne on Friday, 9th May and Saturday, 10th May and Sunday, 11th May at 8.30pm. Tickets on sale in Lynches shop, Arva, McSeain’s, Cornafean, Moyne Cross Stores and Corrigan, Legga. Tickets 10 euro.
