Well ladies our summer break has ended and we are back to our ICA meetings again. Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday September 2nd at 8.30pm in the parish hall. Mary and Katherine are on teas and our competition is a holiday photo. As this is the start of a new year we would love to see some new members and maybe some of our past members might return to us. Anyone with ideas for the coming year please feel free to bring your ideas with you, here’s hoping that this year will be a happy and productive one for us all. Look forward to seeing you all on September 2nd for the chat and of course the cuppa.

Five locations in County Longford (Edgeworthstown, Abbeyshrule, Ballymahon Cloondara, and Longford Town) have been identified as areas for further assessment under the Office of Public Works ongoing Shannon Catchment based Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) Study. The study is assessing flood risk across the Shannon Catchment Area and will develop Flood Risk Management Plans for those areas most at risk of flooding. Public Consultations dates and venues are: Edgeworthsown on Thursday 4th September 12.00pm to 6.30pm at St. Mary’s Community Campus; Abbeyshrule on Thursday 4th September 12.30pm to 7.00pm at The Rustic Inn and Ballymahon on Thursday 4th September 2.30pm to 6.30pm at Ballymahon Library. Flood Maps for Cloondara and Longford are currently being draft and will be available for public consultation later this year.

Charity 5k Run/Jog/Walk

CROSS rugby legends Charity 5k Run/Jog/Walk in aid of Cancer Research this Sunday 31st August in The Mall Complex, Longford.  Registration from 10am, run starts at 11am, entry fee €10.00 for adult, €5.00 per child.  Everyone welcome.

Code of Ethics & Good Practice for Children’s Sport (Child Protection)

This course takes place Wednesday 17th September 2014 at Longford County Council Offices from 6pm to 9pm. This workshop is a 3 hour awareness workshop, which is for the benefit of everyone involved in sport for young people including coaches, leader’s administrators, parents/guardians.
