Congratulations to the Kenagh shooting team who came third in the Intermediate at the county shoot in Streete. Martin, Derek, Noel, Aaron and David did very well and we would like to thank Streete for a very well run shoot. A big welcome to Michelle Ghee who is the first lady to join Kenagh Gun Club. The duck season starts on 1st September so make sure you have your insurance paid up or you will not be covered in the event of an accident. Our AGM will take place in Gav’s bar on Tuesday night the 9th of Sept at 9 o’clock.

Memorial conference

As part of Kenagh’s contribution to Heritage week there will be a Barry Raftery conference in Corlea Centre on this coming Friday, August 29th beginning at 10am. There will be a top class line up of speakers who no doubt will make it a memorable event. The conference will continue until 4pm with a break for light lunch. Booking fee including lunch will be ten euro which includes lunch. This conference is being organised by Wetlands Heritage Ireland and is open to all comers. Other events for Heritage Week will be world war one exhibition in Longford library from Monday August 25th throughout the week. Also a variety of events in Ballymahon on Saturday, August 30th which includes trades and crafts exhibition, baking competition on the street, parade led by Longford Pipe Band, high nellie bike run over a three mile circuit window display and much more. All owners of bikes are invited to take part in the high nellie bike rally new or old.

Longford Harvest Festival

The annual Longford Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel village on Sunday next, August 30th, commencing at 12 noon. Various methods of vintage harvesting will be on display along with many supporting events and exhibitions. All proceeds in aid of St Christopher’s Services.

Progressive 25

Winners in Kenagh Centre last Thursday night were Tom and Brendan, eleven games, they win seventy euro. Michael and Jimmy, nine games, they win forty euro. Table prizes - Larry and Pat, Ivan and Peter, twenty euro each. Raffle: Paddy Conway, Mary Moran, Bernie Walshe, Val Mulvihill, Pat Larkin, Niall Hughes, all win ten euro each.
