Food Fair

Ballinamuck ICA In Association with Bord Bia, Present, Cookery Demonstration and Food Fair (presenter Máire Dufficy, Bord Bia) in the 98’ Memorial Hall, Ballinamuck on Thursday October 3rd at 8pm. Doors open 7.30pm. Admission €10. Raffle for various prizes, proceeds going to Aware.


Bingo takes place every Tuesday in 98 Hall Ballinamuck,nightly jackpot €1300. Everyone welcome to come along.

Fundraising Draw
The New Cemetery Committee are organising a Fundraising Draw which will take place in O’ Reilly’s Bar on Saturday 26th October.  Prizes are 1. €1,000, 2. 32” TV, 3. €100 Voucher, 4. €100 Voucher, 5. €100 Voucher.  Tickets cost €10 and are on sale now, tickets will also be sold door to door throughout the parish between now and 26th October. For further information please contact any committee member. 

Kilmahon Cemetery

The AGM of Kilmahon Cemetery will take place in the ‘98Hall Ballinamuck at 8pm on Monday30th September. All are welcome.

New Arrivals

Congratulations to Francis and Bernie McNally, greagh on the birth of their baby girl recently at Mullingar General Hospital. The baby will be named Áine – a welcome sister for Joseph. Congratulations also to Olivia and Aubrey Walsh, Kilnashee on the recent birth of their baby boy who will be named Cian – a welcome brother for Shane. Congratulations to David and Ciara Collum, Lettergullion on the birth of their first baby – a girl who will be named Molly. And congratulations to all the wonderful grandparents whom we hope will enjoy these beautiful grandchildren as they grow up.


The Longford Branch of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland would like to announce that our Church Gate Collection will be held on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th of September throughout the county. The money raised will greatly contribute tour continued services in the area. These include a home care service, a respite service, a transport service and a day care facility. All of these services are dedicated to respecting the rights of people with Alzheimer’s disease, and supporting their carers. Please give generously. On behalf of ourselves and those who cannot remember, Thank you.

Senior Citizen’s Christmas Party

A fundraising event including a raffle, in aid of the above will take place in the Olde Village Inn on Saturday night October 5th. Music by Tony Marrow. Your support would be greatly appreciated.


A Fundraising Night will be held in the Village Inn Drumlish on October 12th for Carol Galvin, daughter of Willie and Philomena Forde, Cloonaugh Lr, and natives of Kilmahon. Carol diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis eight years ago is confined to a wheelchair and was recently diagnosed with a chronic form of Lyme Disease. Lyme Disease treatment is only available in Germany and will cost 40,000 euro. Carol lives in Athlone with her husband David and six year old daughter. David, her husband is confident and hopeful that the right treatment could bring about major improvements in Carol’s health. Her treatment will be intense and Carol will have to stay at the clinic for the first 3 weeks, he will then have to travel to Germany once a month for a minimum of a year. Your help and support for this Fundraiser will be greatly appreciated.

Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes start Thursday 19th September in The Village Inn Drumlish from 7.00 – 8.15pm. This is a 6 week course. Enrolment for the full course 15mns before class. Pre- booking is necessary to reserve your place, as spaces are limited. Contact Kathleen @ 087-2868254

Tidy Towns AGM

Drumlish Tidy Town’s are holding their Annual General Meeting in the Community Centre on Monday night 30th September at 7.30 p.m. We would like as many as possible to attend. The village scored 280 points in the recent National Tidy Town’s competition, an increase of 6 marks. From now on the marks will be hard earned and if you have an interest and a bit of time we’d love to welcome you on board.

Children’s Choir

Practice on Tuesday 24th September at 6.15 pm in St. Patrick’s Church under the direction of Mairead Whelan and Enda McKenna. Musicians and parents welcome too.

Open Day

Those who are interested will have an opportunity to see progress on the restoration project at an Open Day to be held on Sunday next September 29th. The Cathedral will open to visitors from 1.30pm to 4.30pm


Rainbows is a support programme for children/teenagers who have been bereaved through death or separation. They are listened to in confidence

The Programme begins n the Family Centre, Longford on Thursday 3rd October from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Booking before 26th September at 043-3346827.

Gospel Choir

Longford Voices United Community Gospel Choir are organising a FREE Gospel Choir Workshop facilitated by the Tullamore Gospel Choir on the 29th September from 3.00pm – 5.00pm in The Longford Arms Hotel. To book a place contact LCRL on 043-3345555 before Wednesday 25th September.
