The countdown to the eagerly awaited County Longford Ploughing Championships on Sunday, March 27 is well underway and organisers are delighted that three prominent YouTubers have accepted an invitation to attend the event at John and Helen Kiernan’s farm in Carragh, Granard.

Longford Ploughing exhibition manager, John Maye recently confirmed that YouTubers, Galway suckler and sheep farming star, ‘Declan’ from ‘I Do Agri’, Longford’s ever popular 'Farmer Phil' and Cootehill dairy farmer Adrian Morris, who hosts ‘IFarm WeFarm’ will meet for the very first time at the County Ploughing on March 27.

Longford Ploughing Association PRO Luke Casey explained, “Some years ago, fans were suggesting our video farming superstars should get together. Regrettably lockdown stalled all that.

“On a brighter note, online farm videos have seen a remarkable growth in viewers of all ages. Currently our three guests have 170,000 subscribers between them.”

Six teenagers have appeared in court charged with committing violent disorder at a secondary school.

Mr Casey continued, “Eager for variety during the isolation of lockdown, watching daily tasks on family farms has been both educational and refreshing, especially for younger viewers. YouTube viewers can escape to the latest family farm event or select a past episode working with animals or machinery from a huge library of tasks and watch it all, via their telephone in the palm of their hand.”

Longford Ploughing is now creating the opportunity for the whole family to escape into the fresh Spring air, and meet Adrian, Declan and ‘Farmer Phil’ as they gather collectively for the first time.

Mr Casey added, “A very special day is in store as fans can avail of the chance to meet their farming idols and enjoy a memorable day. Fingers crossed for good weather.”

The main sponsor for the 2022 County Longford Ploughing Championships is local company ‘Robinstown Haulage’.

Encouraging people to ‘hop on the ploughing bandwagon’, Mr Casey highlighted that there will be something for everyone to enjoy on March 27.

“A spot of ploughing and some sensational nerve testing challenges are being planned, and these, in addition to the great tradition of Celebrity Ploughing, live music, an outdoor dance-floor and trade exhibition, will give visitors to Longford Ploughing 2022 lots to feast on.”

With a reputation and record of attracting visitors from all corners of Ireland, the County Longford Ploughing Championships present a prime opportunity to promote enterprises in the area.

Mr Casey suggested, “Make the Longford Ploughing your shop window by taking a stand at our exhibition on Sunday, March 27. Together we can enjoy making our Ploughing 2022 , a brilliant event for Abbeylara and Granard. To book your spot, contact our exhibition manager John Maye on 087 784 4208.”

Longford Ploughing Championships Chairperson Cynthia Geelan is looking forward to welcoming everyone to a meeting on Tuesday, March 8 at 8pm, in Granard Mart canteen as organisational wheels for Ploughing ‘22 gather momentum.
